The 42nd annual Chinese New Year Parade turns the East Pender Street into a festival of noise and colour in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Sunday Feb. 22, 2015. The streets of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown filled with the smell of firecrackers and food, the bright colours of dancing lions and dragons to welcome the Year of the Sheep. It attracted an estimated 100,000 revelers and featured more than 80 teams, according to organizers, this event is one of the largest in North America.

Robert Capa once said, “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” Capa was not recommending the use of telephoto lenses; he was telling us to physically get closer, to become more involved and intimate with our subjects. A telephoto lens and a wide-angle lens help us tell the same story, but in different ways. It’s like a writer choosing which words to use..it depends on what needs to be said. I decided to document this story with mainly the Fujifilm X-T1 with 14mm lens and X100S with the built in 23mm lens.
